Baby News!!

I went to the doctor today for my routine ultrasound -- I'm 19 weeks, 2 days along, almost halfway there!! The baby was active, but being a little stinker and keeping its legs crossed. It sure looked a little cramped in there! I don't know why I have to have such big babies! Everything looked great -- heart is good, spine is good, all its fingers and toes... everything you could hope for! The ultrasound tech kept prodding the baby to move and uncross its legs, and it finally let us take a peek!! I think it would have driven me insane not knowing the rest of the pregnancy! So anyway, we're having A GIRL!! I know I would have been happy with either, but it's going to be so much fun having a girl after Carter!

She measured 19 wks, 5 days and about 11 oz so she's doing great. I've gained about 10-12 lbs so far so I'm not doing so bad either... lol! And just like Carter, who measured about 4 days ahead (she is 3 days), her femur measured 20 wks, 6 days -- another tall one!! We got to video the ultrasound, so anyone who's interested in watching it come on over! Matt might digitize it so I can post it to our site as well. I'll let you know...

There was one minor problem, but it's nothing we have to worry about. The tech couldn't tell for sure, but she thought that the cord had 2 blood vessels instead of 3. It's not going to be a problem, they'll just watch the baby during my third trimester to make sure she's still growing properly. Sometimes the growth just slows a bit. And the doctor said that since Carter was 9 lbs, 12 oz, it'd be just fine for this baby to not grow that last pound! I'd be perfectly okay with that too! I'll have another ultrasound around 28 weeks to check it again. They said a lot of times this isn't even caught until after the baby is born, so it's nothing to be concerned with.

I go back in another four weeks, so I'll keep you posted. Oh, and thanks to those who voted in my poll. The results were 10 boy--11 girl, so I guess majority did rule this time! I actually voted for boy, as I went back and forth on what I felt it was. The last few days I've felt girl though, and Carter's been telling us the baby was a sister!
